LG · Man From the Future

LG's first-ever Super Bowl commercial. Man From the Future, starring Liam Neeson and made through Ridley Scott's RSA Films. Sixty seconds of dark mazes, glass and light, all to reveal the OLED TV.

For Super Bowl 50, LG launched its OLED TV with its first-ever Super Bowl commercial: Man From the Future. Liam Neeson foretells a revolution and sends a messenger racing from the future, briefcase in hand, on a motorcycle through a world of dark mazes, glass and light, to unveil the television.

A Los Angeles production company, 3am, brought me on for the initial concepting and art direction alongside their creative director, with Michelle Gilbert on my team. The finished film was produced through Ridley Scott's RSA Films.

The story

Neeson's black deck holds the idea. The Eight of Clubs transforms into a ring of light and passes it on, and from there it's a chase, through neon corridors and mirrored glass, until the future finally opens up: the LG OLED TV, impossibly thin, pulling colour out of pure black.
